Peering into the Abyss

Strongman’s clenched fist,
Mockingly defiant,
Blood-smeared face,
Conceit of Ozymandias.

Familiar spectre,
Frightful,
Insatiable,
Risen from the wreckage of human folly.

Reincarnation.
Revelation.
Horror.

Blackened heart,
Lust unbridled,
Rotting the edifice where lunatics rule;
Humans wail,
Agency crumbles,
Feeding the Pied Piper of doom.

He prowls among us,
Blatant,
Ravenous,
Ready to consume.

Mindless collective,
Ingratiating;
Idolatrous enablers,
Salivating;
Prone before the beast.

John saw him in vision,
Ensnared in Lucifer’s chains.

Deceitful,
Haughty,
Shameless,
Father of lies.

Whosoever has eyes to see,
Let them see.

He prowls among us,
Impenitent,
Merciless,
Quick to consume.
